CEO COLIN
Shine Support Coordination & Consultancy Services (Shine SCCS) CEO, Colin Alston has over 23 years of experience within the Disability, Education and Immigration Sectors. Colin has a degree in Community Development and Diploma in Disability Services to accompany his vast experience. Throughout his profession, he has fostered a strong belief that everyone deserves a fair go, and uses this approach when steering the way toward client led practices. .
Colin has worked for the Department of Communities (Disability Services) as a Local Area Coordinator and Area Manager over a nine-year period. During which time he had the opportunity to work closely with people with a disability, their families, and informal supports to see them achieve some amazing goals. However, along with all the good, Colin witnessed firsthand how frustrating system constraints and family barriers can be in hindering a person’s success. He believes strongly that walking alongside someone on their journey promotes the best chance of success.
Colin is also the founder of Ignite Community Network (Ignite). Ignite provides a range of supports and services which include, in-home accommodation supports, community mentoring and a range of independent living supports. Originally, the organisation was established to cater for both Capacity Building (Support Coordination) and Core Supports. To better strengthen the Support Coordination, and Specialised Support Coordination programs it was determined that the establishment of a separate entity would best suit participants to mitigate potential conflict of interest, and as such, Shine Support Coordination & Consultancy Services was created.
The two organisations act as sister companies, therefore share similar values, however as separate entities each organisation operates independently.
Colin is a dedicated father of two, and is supported by his loving wife, Cassandra who co-founded the two organisations. He loves a craft beer, and is a golf enthusiast, though he doesn’t have much time to hit the green these days.
